San Angelo, Texas --- Designated hitter Kyle Nichols hit a game-winning, two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to give the Colts a 10-9, walk-off win against the McAllen Thunder Thursday night at Foster Field.

The home run was Nichols's league-best seventh of the year, and it scored first baseman Steve Rinaudo. Rinaudo reached base on a one-out walk.

Thunder closer Alex Fernandez (0-1) suffered a blown save and the loss. He pitched just a third of an inning before the game-winning homer.

Colts' reliever Jeremy Tietze (1-1) earned the win, pitching 1 2/3 scoreless innings.

McAllen jumped out to a 9-2 lead by the bottom of the fifth inning, but that is when the Colts mounted their comeback.

In the fifth, Nichols, catcher Chris Caves, centerfielder Oscar Garcia, shortstop Preston Lyon, and third baseman Jordan Marks all scored. Caves got the rally started with a two-run homer. It was his third of the season. The five-run inning cut San Angelo's deficit to 9-7.

The Colts bullpen kept the Thunder scoreless from the sixth on, while the offense scored three runs in the final two innings for the win.

The victory improves San Angelo 10-10, while the loss drops McAllen to 9-11. The Colts begin a four-game series against the Alexandria Aces Friday night at Foster Field. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m., and gates open at 6:05 p.m.
