Milwaukee Milkmen News Release
ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Milwaukee Milkmen finished their series against the Chicago Dogs with an 8-4 victory and a sweep over the leading American Association team.
The Milkmen quickly grabbed a lead in the second inning with a single from new team addition and rookie Cam Redding that scored Miguel Gomez and Cam Balego.
"He's a guy that can really handle the bat, he's young but he's got a lot of experience," Milkmen manager Anthony Barone said of the rookie's first game as a professional. "He's a guy that's gonna put the ball in play and hopefully help us out against left-handed pitching."
Chicago then responded with a two-run home run in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at two. But Milwaukee kept the scoring going as they scored two more runs in both of the following two innings that included two RBIs from Gomez that scored Bryan Torres and Gabriel Cancel, a double from Jay Williams that scored Balego, and a sacrifice fly from Drew Ward that scored Redding.
Starting pitcher Jose Fuentes gave up a solo home run in the fourth as well but that would be the last run given up by him in his five innings of work before the Milkmen bullpen gave up just one added run over the last four.
Milwaukee then added insurance runs in the sixth and eighth innings to bring the Milkmen's total to eight on the day. Peyton Gray then went one-two-three in the final inning to close the game and the sweep for Milwaukee.
The red-hot Milkmen will now take a day off before returning to Franklin Field to start a series against the Kane County Cougars that will begin on Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. Be sure to get tickets soon as big things are always happening at Franklin Field!
Tickets are on sale atMilwaukeeMilkmen.comor at the Franklin Field Box Office prior to the game.
