Milwaukee Milkmen News Release
FRANKLIN, Wis - The Milwaukee Milkmen crushed the Kane County Cougars 10-1 to claim their third straight series.
Final Score: Milwaukee Milkmen 10, Kane County Cougars 1.
Milwaukee scored quickly with a single from Miguel Gomez that scored Gabriel Cancel in the first and the Milkmen grabbed a 1-0 lead.
The Milwaukee offense then surged in the fourth inning putting up a six-spot on the Cougars. Drew Ward and Gomez both hit solo homers while the Milkmen then put up five singles and a double after that to score four more. After the inning ended Milwaukee led 7-0.
The Milkmen then added two more in the sixth with hits from Cancel and Gomez and another in the eighth with a fielders choice from Justin Williams.
Starting pitcher Frankie Bartow earned the win by shutting out Kane County in his six innings of work that yielded three hits and six strikeouts. He then handed the ball to Juan Echevarria who went the next two innings scoreless as well.
The only blemish on the night was a solo home run given up in the ninth by Hansel Rodriguez, but Rodriguez then closed the game without a doubt 10-1 for the Milkmen.
"The offense saw a couple of hits fall in and it's just so contagious," Milkmen manager Anthony Barone said of the offensive performance. "It's a confidence thing, once one guy did it, the next guy wanted to as well. It's a good offense, sometimes it just takes a while to get going."
The Milkmen will now stay at home to start a three-game series against the Sioux City Explorers. They begin the series tomorrow on 70's night! Join the team at 6:35 p.m. at Franklin Field for a throwback night and fireworks after the game!
Tickets are on sale atMilwaukeeMilkmen.comor at the Franklin Field Box Office prior to the game.
