Kane County Cougars News Release
GENEVA, Ill. - Tuesday night's game at Northwestern Medicine Field ended with the tying and winning runs left at second and third base, as the Milwaukee Milkmen (46-23) guaranteed a series win over the Kane County Cougars (32-38) with a 4-3 victory. The Milkmen have taken all three series from the Cougars in 2021.
Down 4-3 in the 9th, Anfernee Seymour singled to put the tying run on the bases. After Josh Allen walked, Josh Rolette drove a base hit into right field that Cole Sturgeon quickly came up with and fired home. On a bang-bang play, Seymour was called out on a swiping tag from Christian Correa to keep Milwaukee ahead by one. Gavin LaValley grounded out to end the game.
The Cougars never held a lead in the contest, but they tied the game in the 4th inning. Seymour's two-run homer in the 3rd brought the Cougars within a run. Nick Lovullo's RBI sacrifice fly scored Mitch Reeves for a 3-3 tie.
Milwaukee's game-winning run came in the 6th inning on Tony Rosseli's sacrifice fly.
For the second straight game, the Milkmen jumped out to a 3-0 lead by the 2nd inning.
Cougar starter Ben Allison (3-2) suffered the loss, while Milwaukee's right hander Ryan Zimmerman (7-4) earned his third win against the Cougars with a quality outing. Nate Hadley earned his ninth save of the year working out of the 9th inning jam.
The Cougars have never been swept this year, they'll look to continue that trend Wednesday night in the series finale. Tickets go on sale for $5. First pitch from Northwestern Medicine Field on Monday is at 6:30 p.m. For tickets call 630-232-8811 or visit kccougars.com.
