Milkmen Fall 14-4 to Slugging RedHawks

Franklin, WI. - The Milwaukee Milkmen couldn't overcome a 7-run second inning in their series opener against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks and fell 14-4 at Newman Outdoor Stadium.
The Milkmen put 2 runners on in each of the first 2 innings but could not get runs across in either inning. After loading the bases in the bottom of the second, Fargo-Moorhead's Dylan Kelly and Sam Dexter each picked up RBI singles against David Holmberg, making it 3-0 Fargo with one out.
The RedHawks decided to take it up a notch, knocking three straight doubles by way of Will Zimmerman, Manny Boscan, and Leobaldo Pina. The extra base hits gave Fargo a 7-0 lead after 2 innings.
Adam Brett Walker extended his lead for home runs in the American Association, hitting a solo blast in the top of the 3rd but Fargo countered with a run via a groundout from Kelly in the same inning.
Milwaukee showed their resilience in the middle innings. Aaron Hill doubled in the 4th, which scored Trey Martin after his single and Logan Trowbridge singled in Brett Vertigan in the following inning, making it 8-3 Fargo-Moorhead after 5 innings of play.
To the surprise of no one, Walker hit another home run in the top of the 7th, drawing Milwaukee to within 4 runs. However, the RedHawks didn't let the Milkmen get any closer when they made some bases-loaded magic in the bottom of the 7th.
Milkmen reliever Ryan Dunne struggled to find his control, walking home a run and throwing a wild pitch that scored 2 RedHawks in Fargo-Moorhead's 4-run 7th inning.
Nick Novak of the RedHawks hit a solo round-tripper in the bottom of the 8th to cap off the game's scoring and give Fargo-Moorhead a deciding 14-4 victory. Despite the loss, the Milkmen still hold a 1.5 game lead over the Chicago Dogs and a 2 game advantage over Fargo-Moorhead in the American Association's North Division.
Milwaukee will look to bounce back tomorrow against Fargo-Moorhead with first pitch slated for 6:00 PM.
