Edmonton Elks News Release
It's Military Appreciation Night as the Edmonton Eskimos return home to take on ex-Eskimo John Avery and the Toronto Argonauts on Saturday night at 7:30 pm. (gates open at 6:30 pm). It's the final evening game of the year for the Green and Gold as they switch to afternoon kick-offs in October. Toronto, like Edmonton, is trying to stay close to their first place rivals and need a win if they want to catch Montreal. · Mike Pringle Commemorative Poster: The first 10,000 people through the gates at Saturday's game will receive a Mike Pringle commemorative poster celebrating his new CFL all-time rushing record which he set last week against the B.C. Lions.
· Military Might: Football fans will be treated to a fly-past by a CH-146 Griffon Helicopter from 408 Tactical Helicopter Squadron. They will also be able to check out state-of-the-art vehicle displays outside the stadium, including the Light Armoured Vehicle III, armoured ambulances, and army trucks.
· Honourary Captains: Hockey fans get a chance to congratulate Edmonton Oiler GM Kevin Lowe on his World Cup of Hockey victory as he acts as the Esks' honourary captain.
· National Anthem: Local singing product Marlee Scott will perform O Canada.
Halftime:
· Eskimo fans will receive messages via the internet direct form Canadian military personnel stationed in Afghanistan. Messages will be played on the stadium's scoreboard.
