Greenville Drive News Release
The Boston Red Sox announced on Monday that Greenville Bombers' pitcher Mike James has been promoted to high-A Wilmington.
The 24-year old James is in his second professional season after being drafted out of the University of Connecticut in the 28th round of the 2004 Major League draft.
James anchored the Bombers bullpen this season and was named to the South Atlantic League all-star team in June. The right-hander appeared in 30 games for the Bombers, notching a team-high 11 saves to go with a 1-1 record and 3.77 ERA.
Taking James' place on the Bombers roster is left-handed pitcher Brian Marshall. Marshall was a 5th round draft pick out of Virginia Commonwealth University in 2003.
The Bombers continue a four-game homestand against the Columbus Catfish (Los Angeles Dodgers) on Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. at Municipal Stadium.
