CHARLESTON, SC -- Golf professionals from several of the Lowcountry's top courses will compete for the 4th Annual Charleston RiverDogs Golf "Fairway to Heaven" competition on Thursday, August 4, at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.

Two pros from each golf course comprise one team with the goal of chipping an iron shot from home plate into the centerfield batter's eye (approximately 134 yards). The competition begins at 6 p.m., and is held prior to the RiverDogs' home game against the Greenville Bombers with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

Professionals from Dunes West, Miler Country Club, Osprey Point, Oak Point, Cougar Point and others will stage the competition.

There are five sections to the batter's eye and each section has a point value. Each contestant will be allowed three shots with the top three teams (plus ties) advancing to the finals. Ties will be broken with a shot from the warning track behind home plate (approximately 145 yards).

The winning team receives "The Ugly Green Seat Award" which is literally a green box seat that resides in the winner's pro shop for a year.

Dunes West is the three-time defending champion.
