PEARL, MS - Behind five shutout innings from Wade Miley on a rehab assignment, manager Mike Guerrero earned his 1,400th career win as the Biloxi Shuckers (29-28) defeated the Mississippi Braves (27-29), 5-4, on Sunday afternoon at Trustmark Park. Guerrero becomes the seventh active manager in Minor League Baseball to reach 1,400 career wins. The win also saw the Shuckers split the six-game set.

Miley, who made his first Double-A appearance in 1,800 days, came out of the gates firing for Biloxi. He used a six-pitch first and a 10-pitch second to retire the side in order. In the third, he allowed two hits and a fielder's choice, putting runners at first and second with one out, but he worked out of the jam with a flyout to center and a strikeout.

In the top of the fourth, the Shuckers used back-to-back hits to start the inning and put runners on second and third. Wes Clarke drove in Tristen Lutz with a sacrifice fly to left, giving Biloxi a 1-0 lead. One batter later, Ethan Murray drove in Freddy Zamora with a single to right. Murray stole second and third before an RBI single from Jackson Chourio brought him in to make it 3-0.

Miley continued to dominate his outing. He worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the fourth and retired the side in order in the fifth, needing 65 pitches to work through a scoreless outing with five strikeouts.

In the sixth, Carlos Rodriguez worked a two-out walk, and another to Isaac Collins pushed him to second. Chourio then tallied his third hit of the day and his second RBI with a single to right to score Rodriguez. Chourio's RBI was his team-leading 36th of the year and increased Biloxi's lead to 4-0. In the bottom of the inning, the M-Braves got on the board thanks to a three-run home run from Landon Stephens.

After scoreless innings from Tobias Myers and Cam Robinson out of Biloxi's bullpen, the Shuckers plated their fifth run of the day in the ninth. Tristen Lutz scored Tyler Black on a fielder's choice that made it 5-3.

Abner Uribe came on for the bottom of the ninth inning and struck out the first batter before a Drew Campbell solo shot made it 5-4. Uribe then struck out Beau Philip and induced a groundout to first to secure the series split and Guerrero's 1,400th win. The one-run ninth also locked down uribe's seventh save of the year.

Miley (1-0) earned the win for Biloxi while Domingo Robles (4-4) took the loss for the M-Braves.

After an off day on Monday, Biloxi will travel to Montgomery to start a six-game series with the Biscuits starting on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. at Riverwalk Stadium.
