Sioux Falls Canaries News Release
SIOUX FALLS - Trey Michalczewski and Mike Hart each hit home runs Sunday, but the Canaries dropped the fourth game in the five-game set by a final of 5-3.
Michalczewski teed off of Sioux City Explorers starter Brett Adcock for a two-run shot that cut the early X's lead to 4-2. Hart sent a solo shot over the right field wall in the seventh to once again bring the Canaries back within two runs. The homer was the 12th of the year for Michalczewski and the 11th of the year for Hart.
Joey Wagman (1-2) suffered the loss as the Canaries starter. He went five innings, scattering five hits while allowing four runs (three earned). He struck out four and walked four. Adcock picked up the win for the X's. He improved to 5-8 on the season by limiting the Birds to four hits and three runs (three earned). Max Kuhns earned his second save with 2.2 innings of scoreless relief.
The Canaries and Explorers will finish the final regular season series of the 2021 season at The Birdcage on Monday. First pitch from Canaries starter RHP Tyler Garkow (5-9, 5.07 ERA) will be at 1:05 PM. The Explorers starting pitcher is TBA. A Canaries win will knock the Explorers out of postseason contention.
Monday September 6th is the FINAL GAME OF THE 2021 SEASON!
So, you get the day off from work. Well, we don't, so join us at our office. We'll show clips from the cult classic "Office Space," and we'll go one step further by giving everyone who buys a raffle ticket a chance to live the movie by releasing their pent-up work rage and taking a baseball bat to office equipment like Michael Bolton did in the flick. We'll also give away a birthday cake and a red Swingline stapler to the fan who wears the most "flare." You can say "take this job and shove it" by taking advantage of our buy one margarita, get the second one free deal... and you can ask for NO SALT like Milton did. Our season will literally end with a *bang ¬â¹* and it will leave you with the exact opposite feeling of a case of the Mondays.
