Guelph Storm News Release
The Guelph Storm announced today that forward Michael Latta is the AMJ Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, November 7th.
Playing in two games this weekend, the St. Clements native recorded five points. Scoring the empty net insurance goal on Friday against the Spitfires, Latta also set up Zack Mitchell for the winner in the third as the Storm defeated Windsor 5-3. On Sunday afternoon against the Ottawa 67's, the 19 year old scored once in the first and twice in the second, including a shorthanded breakaway goal, to record the fourth hat trick of his career and his second in less than a month.
Named first star of the game in the win over the 67's, Latta is currently tied with Peter Holland for the team lead in goals (12) and sits fifth in the OHL. Producing at over a point per game pace, the Predators pick sits second on the Storm in points with 19.
Next up, the Storm heads to Erie on Wednesday night for some mid-week action. One night later, Latta will join teammates Holland and Taylor Beck on the OHL's Team Canada to face teammate Andrey Pedan and Team Russia in London. Latta and the Storm resume their schedule on home ice on Friday against the Owen Sound Attack and Sunday against the Sudbury Wolves.
