Pawtucket Red Sox News Release

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Mets (54-55) claimed the series opener against the Pawtucket Red Sox (48-60), 4-3, on Wednesday night at NBT Bank Stadium thanks to a walk-off RBI single from Luis Guillorme.

Pawtucket, which had won eight of its last nine games entering the opener against the Mets, finishes the month of July with a winning record and will complete a season-long, 10-game road trip Thursday before returning home to McCoy Stadium over the weekend.

The PawSox started the scoring in the top of the fourth inning, as Josh Ockimey blasted a three-run homer - his second consecutive game with a big fly - to extend his team-leading total to 19.

Syracuse scored three runs in the eighth inning, though, to tie the game. Guillorme smacked a two-run shot, and Dilson Herrera scored on a wild pitch to level the score.

The Mets completed the comeback in the ninth, as Guillorme supplied the walk-off winner.

Pawtucket starter Ryan Weber tossed six shutout innings and piled up seven strikeouts.

The PawSox continue their series against the Mets tomorrow at 6:35 PM at NBT Bank Stadium. Pawtucket right-hander Erasmo Ramirez is slated to start against Walker Lockett. Radio coverage on WHJJ (920 AM and 104.7 FM) and throughout the PawSox Radio Network begins with the pre-game show at 6:05 p.m.

After the last stop in Syracuse, the PawSox return home for a brief, three-game homestand starting Friday, August 2nd. The first 3,000 fans in attendance that night will receive a Jackie Bradley, Jr. replica jersey. Saturday, August 3rd, is the final Free Youth Clinic, which will take place from 2:00 - 3:15 p.m. Super Heroes/Avengers-themed fireworks will follow. Sunday, August 4th is the PawSox's 22nd Annual FanFest, Ladies Day, and another Family Funday, which will include pre-game catch on the field and post-game run the bases.

Good tickets are available, and fans can visit the McCoy Stadium box office, which is open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. through 5 p.m., and during all home games. Fans can also call (401) 724-7300 or log on to PawSox.com for tickets.
