Mets Quiet PawSox Offense, Sweep 2-Game Series

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Mets (55-55) defeated the Pawtucket Red Sox (48-61), 4-2, on Thursday night at NBT Bank Stadium.

Despite dropping back-to-back games at the end of the season-long, 10-game road trip, the PawSox return home with seven wins on a jaunt that went through Durham, Charlotte, Lehigh Valley and Syracuse.

The PawSox jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning with a run against Syracuse starter Walker Lockett.

Syracuse came back in the third, scoring twice off Pawtucket starter Erasmo Ramirez. With one out, Danny Espinosa singled in Braxton Lee and Rymer Liriano to give the Mets a 2-1 lead.

The Mets added two more in the fourth inning, as Liriano doubled in Rene Rivera and Lee with his second double in as many at-bats.

The PawSox forged a comeback in the ninth, scoring on a solo homer by Chad De La Guerra. Pawtucket got two runners to reach base later in the inning but were unable to drive them in.

Erasmo Ramirez allowed two earned runs over six innings with five punchouts.

The PawSox now return home after the 10-game road trip for a three-game homestand against the Rochester Red Wings (Minnesota Twins), starting Friday at 7:05 p.m. Teddy Stankiewicz (5-6, 4.60 ERA) is slated to start. Radio coverage on WHJJ (920 AM and 104.7 FM) and throughout the PawSox Radio Network begins with the pre-game show at 6:35 p.m.

The first 3,000 fans in attendance will receive a Jackie Bradley, Jr. replica jersey. Saturday, August 3rd, is the final Free Youth Clinic, which will take place from 2:00 - 3:15 p.m. Super Heroes/Avengers-themed fireworks will follow. Sunday, August 4th is the PawSox's 22nd Annual FanFest, Ladies Day, and another Family Funday, which will include pre-game catch on the field and post-game run the bases.
