Today's Game
Tonight the Bisons end a quick two-game series in Lehigh Valley after splitting their series with Rochester. With the playoff race heating up, the division rivals will square off for the last time this season. Next, Buffalo will return home for a three-game weekend set against the Syracuse Mets starting Friday.
Yesterday's Game: BUF 7, LHV 11
The Bisons lost the opening matchup against the IronPigs on Wednesday, as LHP Anthony Kay pitched 4.2 innings giving up nine hits, and seven runs. The Bisons offense struck first after scoring in the first inning, but it was not enough to keep them on top after Lehigh scored three runs in the third inning. The Herd will look to split the two-game series tonight in Allentown.
Lehigh Valley IronPigs (6-8)
Buffalo and Lehigh Valley are meeting for the sixth, and final, series of the year for the two teams. The IronPigs took two of the three games in their last series in Buffalo on 7/1-7/3. Buffalo will look to end the season series on a winning note and their seventh win in 15 head-to-head meetings.
Today's Starter
RHP Nick Kingham will start for the Bisons in the final game of the series against Lehigh Valley. He carries a 0-1 record with a 22.50 ERA through 2.0 IP. His first start with the Bisons came on 7/26 against the Durham Bulls a month after being aquired in a trade on 6/13 from the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Andy Burns
INF Andy Burns belted one of two home runs for the Bisons in yesterday's loss against the Leigh Valley IronPigs. Burns led the Bisons offense in last nights game going 3-4 on the night with 3R, 3RBI, a walk, and his HR. He his now carrying a 4G hit streak where he his batting 8-14 (.275).
Jordan Patterson
OF Jordan Patterson contributed to the Bisons offense in yesterday's game finishing 3-5 on the night, as well. Patterson hit his 14th home run of the season in the fourth after doubling to right-center field early in the second inning. Patterson is currently holds a .246 AVG in 89 games with the Herd.
Bisons in July
The Herd went .500 over their 28 games in July, 14-14, that included a five-game winning streak wrapped around the All-Star break. Buffalo was fifth in team batting average (.272), and fifth in team ERA (4.72) in July.
Blue Jays
Toronto (43-67) picked up the sweep against the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday, 4-1. SS Bo Bichette went 3-5 for the Blue Jays, including his first career MLB home run to lead the offensive attack. RHP Jacob Waguespack picked up the win, his second of the season, in the series finale. RHP Trent Thornton is expected to be activated off of the Injured List to make the start in the opening game of a four-game series against the Baltimore Orioles. It is part of a 10-game, three-city road trip for the Jays.
