
Mets Option Ruben Tejada to Bisons

The New York Mets have optioned INF RUBEN TEJADA to the Bisons. Tejada has joined the Herd in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for this weekend's games against the Yankees.
To make roster room, INF LUIS HERNANDEZ has been transferred from Buffalo to the Binghamton Mets (AA).
Tejada, 20, was 1-6 (.167) in three games with the Mets after making the club out of spring training. While in camp, Tejada led the Mets with 22 hits and 11 runs scored by hitting .344 (22-64) in 26 games with New York. Last season, Tejada hit .289 (141-489) with five home runs, 46RBI and 19 stolen bases in 134 games with Binghamton.
At 20 years and 165 days old, Tejada will be the youngest player to appear in a game for the Bisons in almost 17 years. C ANGELO ENCARNACION was 20 years and 135 days old when he played for Buffalo late in the 1993 season. OF FERNANDO MARTINEZ was 20 years and 178 days old when he started for the Herd on Opening Day a season ago.
In 2009, Tejada was the youngest player in all of Double-A baseball.
