
G-Braves beat Knights for second win of 2010

Gwinnett Stripers News Release
The Lead: The Gwinnett Braves defeated the Charlotte Knights 5-1 on Saturday night at Coolray Field. Todd Redmond (RHP) gained his first victory of the season by going 7 strong innings. Gwinnett (2-1) is tied in first place in the International League South with the Norfolk Tides. The Charlotte Knights (1-2) are tied with the Durham Bulls for last in the division.
It Was Over When: Braves DH Matt Young sparked the Braves' offense in the fourth inning with a single, stolen base, and run scored, helping Redmond in his dominant effort on the mound.
Braves Beat:
On the Mound: Redmond pitched 7.0 innings, allowing just 1 R/ER on 3 hits and struck out 6 Charlotte batters. Mariano Gomez shut out the Knights in the final two innings.
At the plate: The Braves continued their success at the plate with 2 outs as Brent Clevlen and J.C. Holt both had RBI singles to break the game open in the fourth. Clint Sammons hit the first G-Braves home run of the season in the next inning to cap the win.
The Opposition:
On the Mound: Jeff Marquez (RHP) allowed 5 runs on 8 hits in 5.0 IP in the loss.
At the plate: Stefan Gartrell knocked in the only run for the Knights, an RBI single in the fourth that briefly gave Charlotte a 1-0 lead. He went 2-for-4.
On Deck: Gwinnett hosts Charlotte in the final game of a four-game series tomorrow at 2:05 p.m. at Coolray Field. G-Braves RHP Ryne Reynoso is scheduled to face RHP Matt Zaleski of the Knights in their first starts of the year.
