Mets Offense Pounds 18 Hits in 12-0 Win

(Trenton, NJ) - Binghamton collected 18 hits including four home runs and Darin Gorski tossed eight shutout innings as the Mets blanked the Trenton Thunder, 12-0, Saturday night in front of 7,433 fans at Waterfront Park. Eric Campbell homered twice and drove in five while Josh Rodriguez went 5-for-5 for Binghamton, which has scored 21 runs and recorded 34 hits over the first two games of the series.

Trenton was shutout for the second time this week and has lost a series for the first time since Binghamton took two of three from them in mid-May. The Mets jumped on Thunder starter Shaeffer Hall (5-6) for four runs and 11 hits in five innings. They then collected three runs on two home runs against Ryan Pope and five more runs versus Kelvin Perez in only 0.1 innings.

Gorski (4-3) allowed seven hits in his longest career outing. He didn't walk a batter and struck out three. Erik Turgeon pitched a scoreless ninth inning to finish the Mets fourth straight win against Trenton.

Ryland Sandoval and Reese Havens also homered for the Mets, while Matt den Dekker picked up two more hits and is now 7-for-10 in the series. Jose Pirela went 2-for-4 for Trenton to extend his hitting streak to nine games.

The Thunder will try to avoid being swept for the first time this season in game three Sunday afternoon. Trenton right-hander Brett Marshall (6-3) slated to start against righty Greg Peavey (3-2).
