Cats Shut out 'Wolves 6-0

The SeaWolves bats were kept in check all night long as the New Britain Rocks Cats belted out six runs on 16 hits and took advantage of key Erie errors as the 'Wolves dropped the middle game of the series 6-0.

The Rock Cats broke a scoreless tie in the top of the fourth inning, as Evan Bigley led off with a double and came home on a Nate Hanson RBI single, giving New Britain a 1-0 lead.

New Britain added onto its lead in the seventh inning, Chris Colabello homered with one out off of reliever David Kopp. Chris Herrmann followed with a double. He advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on an error making it 3-0 Cats.

New Britain pulled away in the top of the eighth. With one out, James Beresford singled and Estarlin De Los Santos reached on an error. With two outs, Mark Dolenc singled to load the bases. Colabello singeld home a pair and Herrmann finished the night's scoring with an RBI knock, scoring Dolenc for a 6-0 lead.

Rock Cats starter Andrew Albers (3-1) picked up the win going six shutout innings, allowing five hits with no walks and four strikeouts.

SeaWolves starter Kelvin De La Cruz (3-6) took the loss allowing a run on seven hits with two walks and five strikeouts in five innings.

The SeaWolves and Rock Cats meet in the rubber game of the series on Sunday afternoon.1:35 First Pitch. Erie will send LHP Ramon Garcia (4-4, 4.21 ERA) to the mound against RHP B.J. Hermsen (3-2, 2.96 ERA).
