
Mets Cruise Past Cubs 6-2

Aderlin Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and T.J. Rivera finished 5-for-5 with a run scored as the Mets defeated the Cubs 6-2 on Monday to win their third straight game.
Rodriguez had a bases clearing three-run double in the fifth inning to help the Mets pull away.
Rylan Sandoval had an RBI double to give the Mets a 1-0 in the fourth. Charley Thurber's RBI groundout scored Sandoval to extend the lead to 2-0.
The Mets had six consecutive batters reach base in the fifth inning to chase Cubs starter Zach Cates from the game. Dustin Lawley had an RBI single to center and Rodriguez followed by ripping a double down the left field line to score three runs.
Hansel Robles was very effective on the mound in his return from the disabled list. Robles allowed one run and two hits in five innings with five strikeouts. He retired the first 12 batters of the game and earned his third victory of the season.
Angle Cuan allowed one run on three hits over two innings.
Frank Francisco pitched his fourth scoreless inning on a major league rehab assignment.
Randy Fontanez retired the side in order in the ninth to close the game.
The Mets will host the Cubs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Tradition Field. Matt Bowman is scheduled to make his first start with the Mets.
