Mississauga MetroStars News Release

For the first time this MASL season, the Mississauga MetroStars (2-3) will play two games in three days as part of a four-game homestand at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre. On Thursday, January 3, the MetroStars entertain Eastern Division rivals the Baltimore Blast (kickoff 7:35 pm ET) while on Saturday, January 5, Mississauga will host South Central Division opponents, the Milwaukee Wave (kickoff 3:05 pm ET).

It's the first of six double game weeks the MetroStars will play in this inaugural MASL season. On three other occasions, they will play two games in three days, while twice this season they will play on back-to-back nights, both occurring on the road.

The MetroStars are looking to improve their home record to 3-1 following a 7-6 win over the Harrisburg Heat last Sunday. Forwards Mo Babouli and Dwayne De Rosario led Mississauga with a goal and an assist each as the MetroStars overcame an early 2-0 deficit with a four-goal outburst in the 2nd quarter to take a lead they would not relinquish.

The Blast (3-2) are looking to bounce back from a 6-3 loss to Eastern Division leaders Utica City FC last weekend. Baltimore never recovered after trailing 3-0 to UCFC and, though they made it close on two occasions, UCFC pulled away with a pair of goals in the 4th quarter. The Blast and MetroStars have met once already this season with Baltimore earning a resounding 11-3 win at home in the season opener for both teams back on December 1.

The Wave (4-0), the South Central Division leaders, will be looking to keep their perfect record intact when they venture into the Paramount Fine Foods Centre Saturday. Milwaukee's latest victims were the St Louis Ambush who fell to an 11-5 defeat at the U-W Milwaukee Panther Arena on New Year's Eve. Forward Robert Renaud, a native of Laval, QC, scored three goals and contributed two assists in the victory to earn a spot on the MASL Team of the Week. Milwaukee comes to town with four Canadians on its active roster including goalkeeper Josh Lemos, of Toronto, defender Daniel Chamale of Toronto, and forward Ian Bennett of Hamilton, ON.

The MetroStars face the Baltimore Blast Thursday (kickoff 7:35pm ET) and the Milwaukee Wave Saturday (kickoff 3:05pm ET) at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre. Both games will be live streamed on MASL.tv at maslsoccer.com.
