Mississauga MetroStars News Release

Metrostars Canada will be coming to Kingston to host the second of six series of neutral site games this season, December 20-22, 2019. The Metrostars and Major Arena Soccer League are hosting a 12-game series at different venues across southern Ontario to promote professional area soccer.

"It has always been our intention to help generate, promote and expand this beautiful game of arena soccer," said Serge Giancola, president of Metrostars Canada. "We believe this game with its non-stop action and the uniquely required skill set of stamina, quick decision making and fast-pace will be an instant hit with us Canadians. Bringing the MASL to smaller city centres like Kingston allows us to better gauge its acceptance and its popularity. There is no reason that the City of Kingston and its residents should be denied the opportunity to experience a game with a 40-year history and an exciting product on the field!" "We are delighted to welcome Major Arena Soccer to Kingston and encourage soccer fans from all over to come out and watch," says Megan Knott, Executive Director of Tourism Kingston. "This collaboration with the Leon's Centre and Metrostars Canada allows Kingston to be one of six cities in the province to deliver this unique and high profile event."

The MASL's three-day run at Leon's Centre kicks off Friday, December 20, with Metrostars Canada facing off against the Harrisburg Heat. Kickoff is at 7:35 p.m. ET. The action continues on Sunday, December 22 for the second game in the series, which kicks off at 1:05 p.m. ET.

An official launch and press conference will be held at the Leon's Centre on, Monday, November 18, 2019, at 11:30 am. Media are invited to attend and will receive details and event itineraries at the press conference. Details will then be posted online.

"This is an exciting time for the Major Arena Soccer League, as we seek to expand the game to new legions of fans," says Giancola.
