"This is an exciting time for Major Arena Soccer, as we seek to expand the game to new legions of fans!"ÃÂ Quote by Serge Giancola, President of Metrostars Canada
Gladiator Sports Media Entertainment Corp., Canadian sports and entertainment enterprise, is the ownership group behind the MetroStars franchise. Its vision is to be an entity synonymous with the growth of arena soccer in Canada and globally.
The sports group opened its ï¬Ârst franchise time, the Mississauga MetroStars, in 2018, and played a full season at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre. Supported by Canadian and international talent, the team played in the MASL's Eastern Division, alongside Utica City FC, Harrisburg Heat and the defending champion Baltimore Blast. MASL has enjoyed a rapid expansion over the last decade, both in emerging and established sports markets, with teams such as the Dallas Sidekicks (re-established in 2018), Mesquite Outlaws (2019/20) and Rochester Lancers (re-established in 2019) set to make their mark on cities across the United States.
This fall, the MetroStars will extend their goal of bringing Major Arena Soccer League to multiple cities across southern Ontario, with a number of neutral site games to be hosted in key markets alongside global entertainment sponsors. The cities chosen for the neutral site games include St. Catharines (Meridian Centre), Kingston (Leon's Centre) , Oshawa (Tribute Communities Centre), Windsor (WFCU Centre), Sarnia (Progressive Auto Sales Centre), and Brampton (CAA Centre).
"The upcoming games will provide a chance for soccer fans in marquee cities throughout southern Ontario the chance to enjoy fast-paced, world-class soccer with a lineup of talent and management that can't be found anywhere else!" ÃÂ Quote by Serge Giancola, President of Metrostars Canada
Giancola and the MetroStars team would also like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Mayor Bonnie Crombie and the City of Mississauga for their support of Major Arena League Soccer and the team's inaugural season. "From day one, Mississauga championed the cause of hosting major arena league soccer within the city, and we are grateful for their continued help and support," said Giancola, who said that the team will look at bringing additional partnership and game opportunities to the city over the coming months.
Further announcements regarding game sponsors and staï¬â¬/player lineups will be revealed in the coming days.
