The 2006 WNBA season is a milestone for women. The league - and the Phoenix Mercury - is celebrating its 10th Anniversary as the longest running and most successful professional organization in women's sports history.

As a part of the season-long celebration, the Mercury will be honoring inspirational women from all walks of life - from area councilwomen to military heroes - during the game vs. the Detroit Shock, coached by Detroit Pistons legend Bill Laimbeer, on Friday, June 9 at 7 p.m. at U.S. Airways Center.

WHEN: Friday, June 9

TIME: Tip-off is 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.

WHERE: U.S. Airways Center

THE TEAM: Diana Taurasi and rookie Cappie Pondexter poured in 30 points apiece as the Mercury rolled to a 90-76 win over the visiting Sacramento Monarchs last night. It marked the first time in franchise history that two Phoenix players scored at least 30 points in one game. Both players are averaging 23 points in the Mercury's first five outings.
