
Merchant promoted to Double-A Corpus Christi

Avalanche RHP Jamie Merchant has been promoted to Double-A Corpus Christi. No one has been tabbed to fill his roster spot.
Merchant, 24, was 0-2 with a 4.50 ERA in 21 appearances with Salem in 2005. Merchant had a 2.93 ERA in 15.1 innings in the month of June.
As a starter in Salem in 2004, Merchant made 17 starts for the Avalanche. In his Salem career, Merchant appeared in 46 games.
Merchant was drafted in the 16th Round of the 2003 out of the University of Vermont. The Burlington, Vermont native spent his first professional season with the Tri-City Valleycats of the New York Penn League.
