Kory Casto named to Carolina League All-Star Team
Potomac Nationals third baseman Kory Casto has been selected to the 2005 Carolina League All-Star team. Casto replaces 3B Kevin Kouzmanoff of the Kinston Indians following Kouzmanoff's promotion to Double-A Akron. Casto will represent the Nationals along with teammates Armando Galarraga, Salomon Manriquez and Josh Whitesell in the 2005 Carolina League vs. California League All-Star game on Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at Harry Grove stadium in Frederick, MD.
Casto, who is currently batting .271, leads the Nationals in RBIs with 42 and is tied with fellow all-stars Manriquez and Whitesell in two more categories. Casto and Manriquez both have 37 runs scored while Casto and Whitesell have both hit 9 home runs.
Bid on Potomac Nationals Jerseys for a good cause! Join the Potomac Nationals, the ALS Association and WINC FM as they fight for ALS on Friday July 15, 2005. The Nationals will auction off player jerseys worn during the game against Lynchburg. The winning bidders will receive the jersey from the player following the game. All proceeds will go to the ALS Association.
Join the Potomac Nationals at our annual baseball camp July 18-20! The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day. Children ages 8-14 will work in small groups with Nationals players and coaches to learn hitting skills, work on base running skills and play scrimmage games. Campers will also receive daily lunch, a t-shirt, autographs and 2 tickets to the Potomac Nationals game on July 20 at 7:05. The cost for the camp is $120 per child and the deadline for registration is Wednesday July 13. Booster Club Silent Auction! The Potomac Nationals Booster Club will be holding its first silent auction of the season at the Pfitz on Saturday, June 25th. Items will include a Tony Blanco autographed Nationals logo ball, a Mike Cameron autographed Cannons logo ball, a P-Nats team autographed bat and many more items from current P-Nats and former Cannons. You won't want to miss it!
P-NATS HEAD TO FREDERICK AND WILMINGTON
June 16 Potomac 8 Wilmington 6 Wilmington was on the board first scoring all six of their runs in the fourth. The P-Nats went on to score eight unanswered runs in the final four innings for the win.
June 17 Frederick 3 Potomac 2 Down one in the seventh, Doc Brooks tied up the game with his sixth home run of the year, but the Keys' Branden Florence answered in the eighth with a solo shot of his own to take the lead for good.
June 18 Potomac 6 Frederick 3 LHP Mike O'Connor pitched six innings allowing only two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out seven towards the win. Kory Casto and Henry Mateo each had two RBI in the game.
June 19 Frederick 2 Potomac 1 The two teams fought for 12 innings to break the 1-1 tie. Frederick's Jarod Rine had the winning RBI with a single to right that scored Ryan Hubele.
June 21 Wilmington 8 Potomac 4 Wilmington broke a 4-4 tie in the eighth when they scored four runs for the win. The Nationals Casto, who was named as a replacement third baseman to the Carolina League All-Star team Tuesday, went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.
June 22 Potomac 14 Wilmington 2 P-Nats batters scored six runs in the third inning and never looked back. Vince Rooi was the P-Nats top batter of the night going 4-for-5 with four RBI and a 3-run home run. All-star Pitcher Armando Galarraga earned the win after going six innings allowing two unearned runs on five hits and striking out seven.
The P-Nats continue the three game series at Wilmington tonight starting at 7:05. RHP and Carolina League All-Star Armando Galarraga will be on the mound for the Nationals. Wilmington will send LHP Andrew Dobies to counter. The P-Nats finish the series Thursday night before returning home Friday June 24th to start a three game home stand against Frederick at 7:05.

Group Events:
Day Care/ Summer Camp Days are back! Day Care/Summer Camp days are among the most popular events of the summer and once again, two games will be designated for these groups. Grandstand tickets will be available for $4.00 to all Day Cares and Summer Camp students and group leaders. In addition, coupons for a hot dog and small soda will be available for $2.00 per person. Tickets must be purchased in advance in order to get the special rate and must be a group of at least 20. Day Care/Summer Camp Days will be held on July 5th and August 10th. Both games will start at 12:05 P.M. with gates opening at 11:00 A.M.
Celebrate your Birthday with the P-Nats!! The Nationals Birthday Party package is an excellent way to celebrate birthdays. With a minimum of 6 partygoers, your child can have the ultimate birthday experience. The Birthday Package includes:
