
Memmert Lifts Roadrunners Past Thunder

EDINBURG, Texas - Gabe Memmert hit a two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th to give the Edinburg Roadrunners the 6-5 victory over the McAllen Thunder Friday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
The Roadrunners (22-27) grabbed the early lead in the bottom of the first with an RBI fielder's choice by Osiel Flores that allowed C.J. Beatty to score making it 1-0.
McAllen (17-30) responded in the top of the third against Edinburg starter Aaron Guerra. Zach Mandelblatt hit a two-run home run to right field. Two outs later, Yaibel Tamayo doubled down the third base line and then came into score on an RBI single by Wilson Batista which gave the Thunder the 3-1 lead.
In the bottom of the fourth, Wellington Dotel delivered a two-run double that allowed Flores and Stantrel Smith to score tying things up at three.
Edinburg regained the lead in the bottom of the seventh when a couple of errors by the Thunder allowed Brandon Wilkerson to score giving them the 4-3 lead.
Alexis Hernandez hit a game tying solo home run in the top of the ninth off of Julio Castro (2-0) tying the game at four.
A couple of errors then allowed Eric Eiland to score in the top of the 10th making 5-4 McAllen.
In the bottom of the 10th, Beatty reached on an error and then came into score on Memmert's walk-off two-run home run off of Luis Matamoros (0-1) giving Edinburg the 6-5 victory.
The Roadrunners hit the road for a four-game series against the San Angelo Colts starting Saturday night at Foster Field. Toro Trevino (4-1) is expected to pitch for Edinburg with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
