
Melee Leads the Way with a Goal and Two Assists as Petes Gain First Win of the Preseason After Shootout

(Sudbury, ON) - On Friday, September 8 the Peterborough Petes travelled to Sudbury for an OHL Preseason Matchup with the Sudbury Wolves. It was the first time that both teams met since the Petes swept the Wolves in the first round of the 2023 OHL Playoffs. Petes won 6-5 in a shootout over the Sudbury Wolves.
Jonathan Melee scored and tallied two assists to lead the charge against the Wolves. Konnor Smith, Sam McCue, Brody Partridge, Quinn Binnie scored their first of the preseason, while Sam Mayer tallied two assists. Chase Lefebvre, Brennan Faulkner, Tommy Purdeller, and Dylan Woulds also picked up assists. Liam Sztuska stopped 17/22 through two, while Easton Rye stopped all seven shots he faced in the third period.

The Petes are back in action on Friday, September 23 in Norwood for their second of three home preseason games held at local arenas. The Petes will host the Kingston Frontenacs at the Asphodel-Norwood Community Centre with puck drop scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Ticket details can be found.
