Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
GREENVILLE, SC - The Greenville Road Warriors announced today that former Clemson linebacker Patrick Sapp will be on hand to meet fans and drop the ceremonial first puck at the Road Warriors' game this Friday against Gwinnett.
earSapp played for the Tigers from 1992 to 1995 and lettered all four seasons. He began his career at Clemson as a quarterback and complied 2,278 yards and nine touchdowns in 14 starts over three seasons. He converted to linebacker in 1995 and led Clemson with 5.5 sacks that season. He went on to be drafted by the San Diego Charges in the second round of the NFL Draft (51 overall) in 1996 and enjoyed a four-year NFL career with the Chargers and Arizona Cardinals. In 63 NFL games Sapp recorded 57 tackles, two sacks, and one forced fumble.
The Road Warriors will welcome Sapp on Friday, January 13 to visit with fans and sign autographs on the BI-LO Center concourse from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. outside of the Road Warriors Team Store. He will also head down to the ice to drop the ceremonial first puck on a night where the Road Warriors will wear Clemson-themed jerseys in recognition of the Tigers' 2011 Atlantic Coast Conference football championship.
The Clemson-themed jerseys will be worn for one night only and then auctioned off in a live post-game auction. Winning bidders will get to have their picture taken with the player whose jersey they win and get the jersey autographed at the auction. As a special treat, the Clemson Tiger will be on hand to help entertain the crowd throughout the game!
Mark your calendars! The Road Warriors return home to face the Gwinnett Gladiators on Thursday, January 12 at 7:35 p.m. at the BI-LO Center. Come out for a Throwback Thursday which features $2 draft beers, fountain drinks, hot dogs, and pretzels. College students can also get in for $6 with a valid ID.
