
MEDIA RELEASE: Kyle McDonough Signs with Winterhawks

Portland, Ore. - The Portland Winterhawks, proud member club of the Western Hockey League, are proud to announce that they have signed forward Kyle McDonough to a WHL Standard Player Agreement.
The Winterhawks selected McDonough in the second round, #40 overall of the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft after the Langdon, Alta. native recorded a league-leading 36 goals to go with 26 assists and 62 points in the Alberta Elite Hockey League (AEHL) last season. Serving as captain of the Okotoks Oilers U15 AAA club, the 5-foot-8, 146-pound forward posted an additional five goals and nine assists for 14 points in nine playoff contests as well. McDonough earned AEHL 2021-22 Top Forward honors and was named to the league's First All-Star Team.
"Kyle is a leader and plays a heady possession game, controlling the tempo and using everyone on the ice. As he adds strength and power, Kyle has a chance to drive play in this league. He learns quickly and is a big part of our future," said Assistant to the General Manager and Director of Scouting Mike Coflin.
Playing for Team Petan at the Winterhawks' Neely Cup Training Camp, McDonough recorded two goals and one assist in front of the Portland faithful at the VMC last week. He joins Ryan Miller as the second member of the Hawks' 2022 draft class to put pen to paper with the club.
