September 8, 2022 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Regina Pats News Release
Regina, Sask. - The Regina Pats Hockey Club is pleased to announce that they have signed 2006-born defenceman Kolten Bridgeman and 2007-born forward Wyatt Stinton to Western Hockey League Standard Player Agreements.
Bridgeman, who turns 16 on October 28, recorded 23 points (10G-13A) in 34 games for the Regina Vics U18 AA team last season, helping his club to a Saskatchewan AA Hockey League Championship. The Regina, Sask. product was listed by the Pats in 2022, and attended their 2022 Spring Camp in June and their 2022 Training Camp, where he potted one goal through a handful of scrimmages. The 6-foot-3, 182 lb. right-handed defenceman is committed to play for the Regina Pat Canadians this season after appearing in six games with them last season.
"He has good size for sure and he seems to keep getting better," Regina Pats GM and Head Coach John Paddock said. "Dale Derkatch was central on listing him last season and I saw him play a game with the Pat C's and I thought he played very well. He's going to get great direction with the Pat C's and he needs to play a year there, and then be a serious challenger on the blueline next season."
Stinton, 15, tallied 47 points (23G-24A) in 30 games for the Rink Hockey Academy in Winnipeg U15 program in 2021-22, finishing second on his team in goals and third in points. The Flin Flon, Man. product was drafted by the Pats in the fifth round (102nd overall) in the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft, and later attended the Pats 2022 Spring Camp in June and their 2022 Training Camp, where he scored four goals in one scrimmage on September 2. The 5-foot-9, 150 lb. forward is committed to play for the Rink Hockey Academy in Winnipeg U16 team this upcoming season.
"His future seems bright to us," Paddock said. "When we saw him at Spring Camp, the puck seemed to follow him around, and some guys have the knack, that wherever he goes on the ice, he gets opportunities. I think he's going to score, that's his game and I think by 18 and 19, he's going to be a productive player for us."
The Pats are excited to welcome both Kolten and Wyatt to the organization, and the City of Regina.
A reminder, the Regina Pats will have five pre-season games before their home opener against the Moose Jaw Warriors on September 23. The Pats will begin their pre-season schedule on Friday, September 9 in Prince Albert before coming home on Saturday, September 10 to complete their home-and-home inside the Brandt Centre.
The Pats will then take on the Swift Current Broncos in Estevan, Sask. at Affinity Place on September 13 before wrapping up their pre-season schedule on September 15 and 17 against the Winnipeg ICE.
