Mechanics win another thriller against Flint, 7-5

FRASER, MI-The Mechanics and Generals fought til the bitter end but it was the Mechanics who prevailed 7-5 in another close game in front of 1,306 fans at the "Garage."

The Mechanics and Generals scored in bunches tonight. Both teams traded goals as the Mechanics would score the first two goals of the game and then the Generals followed with two of their own. The Mechanics would then score three more goals while the Generals responded with three of their own to tie the game at 5-5 late in the third period.

Finally in the third period the Mechanics netted the game winning goal as Mike Burgoyne fired a shot past the Flint goaltender, Peter Brady. Burgoyne finished the night with three goals and two assists as he completed the hat-trick late in the third period.

Bill Ruggiero played in his 6th game this season and finished with 29 saves no earn his second win of the year. Four other Mechanics finished with multiple point nights, Matt Smith (2 assists), Peter Szabo (1 goal, 1 assist), Greg Bullock (2 assists) and Brent Gretzky (1 goal, 1 assist).

The Mechanics return home this Wednesday January 11th to face the visiting Missouri RiverOtters at 7:30 PM. Every Wednesday home game is ladies night where ladies can get in for just $5, sponsored by MB Jewelers and 94.7 WCSX.
