Danbury Trashers News Release
FLINT, MI--It looked like the Trashers were going to run away and hide with an easy win on Saturday night in Flint, but Danbury was found in the second period. Despite a 3-0 lead by the 7:50 mark of the first period, the Flint Generals came from behind to force a shootout and defeat the Trashers 5-4 at Perani's Hockey World.
David Hymovitz, Regan Kelly and Mario Larocque beat Flint netminder Peter Brady by the 7:50 mark of the opening period when Bobby Reynolds replaced him with Jason Saal.
Leo Thomas scored at the 15:37 mark of the second period to make it 3-1 in favor of Danbury. Mike Kinnie would score a pair of goals sandwiched around Jason Selleke's game-tying goal in the third.
Dave MacIsaac scored his 6th of the season to re-tie the game at 4-4 at the 7:55 mark of the final period.
J.M. Daoust and Sergei Durdin scored in the shootout while Sean Starke, Terry Marchant and Matt Elich scored for Flint. Elich's shot was the game-winner in the 5th round.
Paired with Adirondack's loss on Saturday, the Trashers extended their lead in the UHL East to two points.
The Trashers return home on Friday January 13th at 7:30pm against the Flint Generals after traveling to Motor City, Flint and Fort Wayne this weekend. Sunday's game at Ft. Wayne is at 5:00pm.
