Trashers crush Fort Wayne, 7-2

FT. WAYNE, IN--After dropping the last two games, including a shootout loss on Saturday against Flint, the Danbury Trashers came out roaring to blow out the Ft. Wayne Komets 7-2 on Sunday at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.

The Komets won their previous two games without allowing a goal, but Danbury opened the scoring at the 7:32 mark on David Hymovitz's 19th of the season. Danbury later added goals from Dave MacIsaac and Drew Omicioli. Ft. Wayne scored on a power play goal from Andrew Luciuk prior to Omicioli's goal.

The Trashers continued their scoring onslaught in the 2nd as Drew Omicioli added his 2nd goal, followed by others from Alex Goupil and J.M. Daoust. Daoust and Drew Omicioli each finished with three points.

Ryan Barnes added his first of the season in the final period, while Colin Chaulk scored a late goal for Fort Wayne.

Jayme Platt stopped 39 of 41 shots for the Trashers while Kevin St. Pierre savedonly 27 of 34. The Trashers extended their lead in the UHL East to four points following Adirondack's home loss to Muskegon.

The Trashers return home on Friday January 13th at 7:30pm against the Flint Generals and host Port Huron on Saturday at 7:30.
