
Mechanics take down the Flags 3-0

PORT HURON, MI-Rod Branch and the Mechanics shutout the Port Huron Flags for the first time in Flags history tonight at McMorran Arena.
The Mechanics scored first when at 2:53 of the first period, Mel "the Mangler" Angelstad tallied a goal, his first of the year, which turned out to be the game winning goal as Rod Branch recorded 41 saves for his second shutout of the season.
David Herring assisted on the Angelstad goal and scored the Mechanics second goal. Kris Vernarsky scored the third Mechanics goal, which was on a penalty kill. Vernarsky now leads the team with 2 Shorthanded goals.
Branch, while making the 41 saves earned his 15th win of the season. Branch only recorded one shutout last season while playing in 63 games.
Mike Burgoyne has tied a career high in points (14) with his assist on the Mechanics second goal.
