
Vipers fall to Rockford 6-1

ROCKFORD, IL - The Roanoke Valley Vipers, member of the United Hockey League (UHL), fell to the Ice Hogs in Rockford Friday night by a final score of 6-1.
Rockford grabbed a three-goal lead after the first period of play, as Yannick Tifu scored twice at 11:43 and 14:20, and Chaz Johnson added a third goal at 18:10. Mike Wiggins got the Vipers on the board at 15:48 of the second period with a goal off assists from Steve Crusco and Petr Jelinek. That would be the first and last time Roanoke's offense was heard from during the game.
Rockford's offense turned it up again in the third period, adding goals from Olivier Proulx and Paul Falco. With a minute and 50 seconds left on the clock, Tifu added his third goal of the night, scoring a hat trick to seal the win for the Ice Hogs.
The Vipers (11-14-4, 26 points) remain locked in third place with the Richmond RiverDogs, who lost 6-2 to the Danbury Trashers on Friday night. Roanoke will travel to Fort Wayne for a New Year's Eve matchup on Saturday night. Tune into the live action on 3WR 910AM and cheer on your Vipers!
