Mechanics start second half of season 2-0 by winning 4-3

Motor City Mechanics News Release

RICHMOND, VA - The Adam Edinger, Peter Szabo, Brent Gretzky line strikes again as the Motor City Mechanics defeat the Richmond RiverDogs 4-3 for the second night in a row tonight at the Richmond Coliseum.

The Edinger, Szabo, Gretzky line combined tonight for six points as they contributed on two of the three Mechanics regulation goals. Vlad Serov started the scoring 5:47 into the first when he netted his fourth goal in his past six games.

After that it was the great trio that led the way as Edinger recorded his 27th goal of the year with helpers from, you guessed it, Brent Gretzky and Peter Szabo. The three struck again in the third when Szabo scored with assists going to Edinger and Gretzky.

Richmond tied the game late to force a shootout. In the shootout Edinger was the only goal scorer as that would be all the Mechanics would need as Rod Branch stopped all five RiverDog attempts to win the game 4-3.

In the process of getting the shootout win, Branch started his 39th game and made 25 saves to record his 20th win of the season and record his 50th career UHL win.

The Mechanics remain on the road for the next two games. Tomorrow the Mechanics face Elmira and Tuesday the Mechanics are in Danbury for a midweek meeting against the Trashers.
