Danbury bounces back to crush Elmira, 6-1

DANBURY, CT--J.M. Daoust netted the first and last goals of the game as the Danbury Trashers dominated play for 60 minutes before a sold out crowd of 3,005 on Saturday night as the Trashers defeated Elmira 6-1.

Unlike Friday night, the Trashers jumped out to an early lead and kept it for the entire night. Daoust's first goal came just 49 seconds into the opening period, followed by Jeff Daw's seventh of the season from Fred Belanger and David Hymovitz at 11:31.

Drew Omicioli netted his 24th of the season on the power play following a great pass from Dave MacIsaac at 2:06. Alex Goupil followed with his 16th of the year at 5:22 while Danny Stewart scored his 6th of the season at the 14:25 mark before Elmira finally scored at 17:19 on Andy Rozak's first of the year.

Daoust's second of the night was at 6:43 of the final period, assisted by Hymovitz and Daw.

Sly Daigle bounced back from Friday's loss to stop 32 of 33 shots for the win, while Nick Boucher saved only 29 of 35. The Trashers continue to hold a six point lead in the UHL East Division as their record improved to 26-11-7. The Jackals fell to 15-22-5 with the loss.

The Trashers return home on Tuesday night January 31st against Motor City at 7pm.
