Mechanics score late goal to win 3-2

FRASER, MI-The Motor City Mechanics score a late goal on the power play to defeat the evil Flint Generals 3-2 tonight at the Great Lakes Sports City Arena in front of 1,779 fans.

Brent Gretzky scored at 8:56 of the first to give the Mechanics the 1-0 lead mid way through the first period. Adam Edinger and Peter Szabo tallied the assists on the goal. Less than seven minutes later the Generals tied the game at 1-1 and both teams headed into the intermission locked at 1-1.

Adam Edinger scored his 34th goal of the season in the second with the assists going to Matt Smith and Brent Gretzky. Flint again tied the game and again both teams headed into the intermission locked at 2-2.

With a late power play opportunity, Kevin Hansen fired a rifle past the Flint goaltender to give the Mechanics a 3-2 lead and win the game with the same score.

Rod Branch made his 17th straight start in net making 31 saves to earn his 23rd win of the season.

Tomorrow, Sunday the Mechanics face-off against the Fort Wayne Komets. Face-off is slated for 6:00 PM

The "Name that Line" contest is underway as many entries have already been submitted. Fans have until midnight on February 28th to submit their entries to name the Edinger, Szabo, Gretzky line. The winning name will be revealed on March 3rd during the first intermission.
