Adirondack Frostbite News Release

ELMIRA, NY - The Adirondack Frostbite defeated the Elmira Jackals 7-6 in a shootout on Saturday night at First Arena.

Elmira took an early lead, scoring a pair of goals just 40 seconds apart. Eddy Lowe started the scoring at 6:00, just five seconds after a Jackal power-play opportunity expired. Lowe skated across the Frostbite blue line and beat Kris Tebbs over the left shoulder with a long wrist shot.

Chris Chaput doubled the Elmira lead at 6:40. Chaput took a centering feed from Konstantin Kalmikov and redirected a shot past Tebbs for his 18th of the season.

Adirondack cut the Elmira lead in half just 39 seconds after Chaput's goal. P.J. Byrne's shot from the right point beat Ryan McIntosh to the stick side for his second goal of the season.

The Frostbite tied the game at 13:01 of the opening period. Greg Koehler skated across the Jackal blue line and took a quick wrist shot from the top of the right-wing circle. The shot beat McIntosh to the five hole, giving Koehler his third goal of the season.

Adirondack continued rolling into the second period. Ryan Bennett gave the Frostbite their first lead of the night scoring his sixth goal of the season just 30 seconds into the middle period.

Kevin Watters made it 4-2 Frostbite with his team-leading 28th goal of the season at 9:49. Hugo Belanger fed a perfect cross-crease pass to Watters, who was able to redirect the puck past McIntosh.

The Frostbite went up by three at 16:29. David Moccia's shot from the slot was stopped by McIntosh, but the rebound sat free in the crease, and Pierre-Luc Leblond swooped in and was able to slide the puck into an empty net for his third goal of the season.

Elmira got one goal back with 58.1 seconds left in the period as Josh Tataryn beat Tebbs with a shot from the left-wing circle, but Adirondack came right back to retake its three-goal lead at 19:36. Bennett skated right down the slot, beat two defenders, and slid a backhand shot past McIntosh for his second of the night.

The Jackals tied the game, scoring three times in the first 9:11 of the third period. Kevin Cooper started the rally scoring a power-play goal at 1:54 putting home the rebound of a Sean Kotary shot.

Jason Sessa made it 6-5 at 3:46, as he tipped home a Craig MacDonald shot in front, scoring his 14th goal of the season.

Cooper tied the game with his second of the period at 9:11, as he skated into the Frostbite end, and beat Tebbs with a quick shot to the glove side.

In the shootout, the Frostibite scored on all three of their attempts, while Tebbs stopped all three Elmira shots to pick up the win.

Adirondack concludes its three-game weekend on Sunday, hosting Richmond at 5:15 p.m. It's another Family Four Pack Night, with four tickets, four slices of pizza, and four sodas just $50. Tickets are available at the Glens Falls Civic Center Box Office, or by calling (518) 798-0202.
