Motor City Mechanics News Release

FRASER, MI--The Motor City Mechanics looked impressive during two pre-season games versus the defending Colonial Cup Champions and continue to look impressive after sinking the River Otters 5-2 on opening night of the 2005-06 season.

After two pre-season games the Mechanics were four for 11 on the power play. Through 20 minutes of regular season play, the power play was a perfect three for three. Just 0:16 seconds into the game Defenseman, Chris Bogas (1) scored the first goal of the new season, later in the period Defenseman, Mike Burgoyne (1) scored at 16:35 and Defenseman, Henry Acres (1) tallied one late at 18:20 thus taking the 3-0 lead into the intermission break.

To start the second period, the Otters took only 1:00 to finally put a goal on the board. However, that would be all the scoring in the period as both teams tightened up the defense for the remaining 19 minutes.

After the River Otters scored at 5:12 in the third period, to make the game 3-2, the Mechanics answered scoring back-to-back goals to seal the victory. Adam Edinger (1) and Kris Vernarsky (1) were the goal scorers in the period. After the final horn sounded the Mechanics finished with an impressive four for six on the power play.

There were nine players on the scorer's sheet netting at least one point and four players having multiple point nights. Player/Assistant Coach, Greg Bullock had three points (3 assists), Acres had three points (1 goal,

2 assists), Mike Ramsay had two points (2 assists) and Peter Szabo had two points (2 assists). Goaltender Rod Branch made the start in net and made 22 saves on just 24 River Otter shots.
