Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud members of the United Hockey League, announce their captains for the upcoming 2005-06 season, which begins tomorrow night in Port Huron.
Wearing the letters on this year's team will be forwards Nick Bootland, Kory Karlander, and defenseman Daniel Carriere.
"With all the leadership we have in the locker room, both Paul Pickard and I felt it essential to have the players select their captains,"Â said Director of Hockey Operations/Head Coach Mark Reeds. "While we have three capable players wearing letters, we still expect everyone on our team to lead by example."Â
After a player vote, the K-Wings selected forward Nick Bootland as their captain for the 2005-06 season. The eight-year veteran has played a majority of his time in the American Hockey League.
The K-Wings also announce that forward Kory Karlander and defenseman Daniel Carriere will be the team's Assistant Captain.
Like Bootland, Karlander is a seasoned veteran that has spent his fair share of time in a hockey rink. Kory is an 11-year pro, that has spent time in the both the International Hockey League and the American Hockey League.
Carriere is a four-year pro, who has played three years in Kalamazoo. Last year, Carriere also was honored by the team as their Assistant Captain.
