
Mechanics earn victory over Outlaws

Fraser, MI â The Motor City Mechanics earned a 3-1 win tonight at The Garage over the Kansas City Outlaws.
Jeff Goldie netted his 12th of the season, a powerplay goal, to give the Mechanics a 1-0 lead with just five minutes remaining in the first period. Blair Manning and Dan Price assisted on the goal.
After a scoreless second period, Manning and Goldie combined for another powerplay goal with Manning finding the back of the net in the early going, just 1:22 into the third. Leading 2-0, Mark Lee was able to solve Mechanics netminder Rod Branch and bring the Outlaws within one. With one minute remaining in the game, Kansas City pulled goaltender Maxime Gingras for the extra man but were unable to convert and Joe Burton popped in an empty netter to give Motor City their eighth victory of the season. In goal, Branch made 21 saves for the Mechanics, while Gingras made 23 saves for the Outlaws.
The Mechanics will be at home next weekend, taking on the top ranked Danbury Trashers on Friday, January 7th at 7:30 pm. On Saturday, Motor City will host Port Huron at 7:30 and on Sunday, the defending Colonial Cup champs Muskegon Fury will be in town at 5:00 pm. Saturday is Elvis' birthday and will feature a Las Vegas trip for two give-away!
