Meanchoff named player/assistant coach

[FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.] - The Fayetteville FireAntz of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) announced today that Rob Meanchoff has agreed to terms for the 2006-07 season. He will assume the role of player/assistant coach.

Meanchoff, a 5'10'', 190 pound defenseman from Markham, Ontario will be entering his third season with the FireAntz. In 89 games played he has four goals, 31 assists and 35 points. He is also +32 over that time.

"I'm really excited about the opportunity to get involved in coaching and working with John (Marks)." Meanchoff said, "I've wanted to get into coaching as a career for a long time and couldn't be more delighted than to begin in Fayetteville. The fans are the best, and the facility and management are both top-notch."

Meanchoff joins goaltender Chad Collins as returning players under contract for the 2006-07 campaign.

"Rob is a really intelligent guy and I think he's going to be a great asset as a player/assistant coach." Head Coach John Marks added, "His input is going to be heavily relied upon during the recruitment process as well as throughout the season."
