April 7, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Stockton Heat News Release
STOCKTON, CALIF. - Mike McMurtry and Ryan Lomberg recorded multi-point games for the Heat, but in the end the club couldn't beat San Jose netminder Stephon Williams but twice in a 6-2 setback against the Barracuda at Stockton Arena on Friday night. San Jose built up a 3-0 lead through the midway mark of the contest, but McMurtry breathed life into the Heat with a second period tally that brought Stockton within two. However, a wild third period saw the Barracuda add three goals to Stockton's one and the road team held on for the 6-2 win. With the loss, the Heat fall to a .547 points-percentage as the fourth-placed Texas Stars still hold the final playoff spot despite a shootout loss to the Rockford IceHogs with their .576 points-percentage. The Heat look for revenge at the SAP Center in San Jose for an afternoon matinee tomorrow against the Barracuda starting at 1:15 p.m. The team then returns to Stockton Arena on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. to host the Ontario Reign for Wing It Wednesday, where fans can enjoy $.50 wings and $4 bottomless popcorn and then head down to Ontario on Friday where the Heat will clash with the Reign for the final time this season at 7:00 p.m. Stockton closes the regular season out by hosting San Jose one final time at Stockton Arena on Saturday, April 14 at 6:00 for Fan Appreciation Night.
