Game Day Build-Up: Senators vs. Rocket, April 7
April 7, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Belleville Senators News Release
The set-up
The Belleville Senators will look to build on its momentum from a big win Friday as they get set to face the Laval Rocket for the final time this season.
Belleville (27-40-2-3) blew past Rochester 5-1 Friday night and sit tied for fifth in the North Division with Binghamton who also won Friday.
Laval (24-40-7-2) sit seventh in the North Division and two points behind Belleville but have lost eight straight games as they've slid to last place in the conference.
Roster notes
Belleville received more offensive help Friday as Parker Kelly was reassigned to the Sens after completing his junior season with Prince Albert in the AHL.
However, they will be without defenceman Andreas Englund who was recalled by Ottawa this morning to play in their season finale against Boston.
Marcus Hogberg made 32 saves in Friday's win so expect Filip Gustavsson to be between the pipes for Kurt Kleinendorst's troops tonight.
Kyle Flanagan, Mike Blunden, Jim O'Brien, Ben Sexton and Francis Perron are out for Belleville.
Previous history
Belleville is 4-6-0-1 against the Rocket this season but are coming off of a franchise record eight goals in their last meeting on March 25. The Sens are 2-3 against Laval at the Yardmen this season.
Who to watch
After getting the call-up to the professional game, Parker Kelly made an immediate impact with his new squad as he scored short-handed to notch the first goal of his professional career in Friday's win over Rochester.
Laval defenceman Eric Gelinas has 13 goals and 26 points this season in 63 games but five of those goals and 11 points have come in 10 contests against Belleville.
Where to watch
Saturday's game starts at 7pm and can be seen live on www.theahl.com through their AHL Live application (subscription required) or at Shoeless Joe's in Belleville.
The radio broadcast on CJBQ 800 begins at 6:50pm with Jack Miller on the call and David Foot on colour.
