Asheville Tourists News Release

Salisbury, MD--Ryan McMahon became just the 26th player in Asheville Tourists history to record a 100 RBI season--a history that dates all the way back to 1897. McMahon came to the plate with Raimel Tapia at third and one out in the top of the eighth inning. He hit a sharp ground ball off the glove of Delmarva's first-baseman Crede Simpson and Tapia crossed the plate on the play.

McMahon's teammate, Correlle Prime, has the opportunity to be number 27 and give the Tourists a pair of 100 RBI players in the same season for only the fifth time in Asheville history.

Prime currently sits at 99 RBI and finished Sunday night's game 2-for-4 but without a run batted in.

The Tourists took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third. Tapia grounded out with Ashley Graeter coming home to score the game's first run. In the fourth, Prime was part of a double steal with Dillon Thomas that led to the second Tourists run.

Antonio Senzatela worked five shutout innings before running into trouble in the sixth. The Shorebirds rallied for two runs and tied the game 2-2 after six. In the eighth, Tapia put the Tourists in front with an RBI single and then scored on McMahon's RBI. Asheville added two more in the ninth from RBI singles by Emerson Jimenez and Zach Osborne.

Trent Blank, Trent Daniel, and Matt Pierpont combined to toss the final 3.2 innings in relief of Senzatela. With the win, Asheville finished their road trip with a 5-1 record as well as earned bragging rights over Delmarva by taking the season series four games to three.

Following Monday's off-day, the Tourists return to McCormick Field for their final homestand of the regular season. Asheville entertains Hagerstown with Tuesday's first pitch slated for 7:05pm.
