KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (Aug. 25, 2014) - The Kannapolis Intimidators will recognize the most decorated player to represent the Piedmont/Kannapolis franchise over the last 20 years on Friday, Aug. 29, as the first 1,000 fans will receive an action photo of 1997 Piedmont Boll Weevils shortstop Jimmy Rollins in the final installment of the season-long Legends Series giveaways. Rollins, who set the franchise record with 139 games played as an 18-year-old in his one season in Kannapolis, went on to win the National League MVP award in 2007 and won a World Series ring with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2008.

Gates open at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, with the game against the Greensboro Grasshoppers at 7:05 p.m. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to get the last Friday night giveaway in the season-long Legends Series, which has honored 11 former Intimidators and Boll Weevils players that went on to the Major Leagues. Legends Series action photos are presented this season by SignsFast of Kannapolis.

Rollins is a veteran of more than 2,000 Major League Baseball games with the Phillies, which served as the MLB affiliate of Piedmont Phillies and Piedmont Boll Weevils from 1995-2000. The former second round pick in the 1996 draft made his full-season debut with the Boll Weevils in 1997, batting .270 with 22 doubles, eight triples, six home runs, 59 RBI, and 46 stolen bases in 139 games. He made his Major League debut with Philadelphia on Sept. 17, 2000.

The Kannapolis Intimidators are in the 20th season of professional baseball in Kannapolis and the team's 14th as the Class A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. Since the team moved to Kannapolis in 1995, a total of 79 players that have played in Kannapolis have gone on to the Major Leagues.
