Syracuse Mets News Release

Toledo, OH - The Syracuse Chiefs dropped a 1-0 decision to the Toledo Mud Hens Monday night at Fifth Third Field. Former Chief Chad Huffman hit a solo home run in the seventh inning to post the only run of the game.

Syracuse (51-69) got a brilliant pitching performance from Kyle McGowin. McGowin, named I.L. Pitcher of the Week today, allowed just one hit and one walk in the first six and two-thirds innings of the game, facing the minimum thanks to two double plays. McGowin held a scoreless innings streak of 14 and two-thirds before the home run.

Toledo (61-58) cracked the board on Huffman's blast, coming on a 3-1 pitch, rattling off the left-field foul pole. It was one of only two hits in the game for the Mud Hens.

The Chiefs and Mud Hens continue their series Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. RHP Brady Dragmire is scheduled to start for Syracuse opposite RHP Jacob Turner for Toledo.
