Manchester, NH-Mike MacDonald held Trenton to one run on three hits in tossing his second complete game of the year, as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats beat the Thunder 4-1 before 3,857 at Merchantsauto.com Stadium on Tuesday night.

MacDonald (7-4) served up a solo home run to third baseman Kevin Howard (6) in the top of the eighth inning before retiring the final five batters. It took the right-hander 94 pitches to reach the 94-inning mark for the season, third in the Eastern League. He struck out three and walked two, snapping a six-game winning streak for Trenton (41-36).

Vito Chiaravalloti belted a three-run homer, his sixth, off Danny Borrell (3-5) in the bottom of the fourth inning to supply all of the runs for New Hampshire (35-40). Manny Mayorson led off that inning with a single and scored on Curtis Thigpen's triple. After Borrell struck out Adam Lind and David Smith, Chiaravalloti wrapped a 1-0 pitch just inside the leftfield foul pole.

The Fisher Cats and Thunder meet in game two of their three-game series Wednesday night at 6:35pm. New Hampshire sends left-hander Kurt Isenberg (3-8, 5.11) against the New York Yankees top pitching prospect, righty Philip Hughes (4-3, 3.18).
