New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
MANCHESTER, NH - Mike McDade drove home three runs and Sean Ochinko extended his hitting streak to a team-best 13 games, but the Fisher Cats (22-37) fell short to the Bowie Baysox (25-34), 9-5, in the opener of a three-game series on Friday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
Bowie opened the scoring with solo runs in the first and second inning against Fisher Cats starter Yohan Pino (L; 4-2). In the bottom of the second, a Brian Bocock single scored Gabe Jacobo to pull the Fisher Cats within a run at 2-1.
After an hour-plus rain delay in the top of the third, the Baysox broke the game open by scoring five runs over the fourth and fifth innings to take a 7-1 lead.
Led by McDade and Ochinko, the Fisher Cats put up their big rally by sending ten men to the plate in the bottom of the fifth. Facing reliever Chris Petrini, the first three men reached before McDade brought them all home with his tenth double of the season to make it a 7-4 game. Ochinko followed with a double of his own to plate McDade for the Fisher Cats fifth run.
That's as close as New Hampshire would come, leaving the bases loaded in the fifth inning. The Fisher Cats managed just three base runners over the final four innings while Bowie added to runs in the ninth to pad its lead.
McDade now has five RBI on the homestand and a team-leading 36 on the season. Ochinko's 13-game hit streak is the longest for the Fisher Cats in 2012.
The series continues with the middle game on Saturday night at 7:05 PM. The game will feature Atlas Fireworks and USA Subs Baseball Bingo. Tickets are available by visiting www.nhfishercats.com.
The pitching match-up features RHP Chad Jenkins (2-5, 6.13) against Bowie RHP Sean Gleason (0-1, 6.04). Radio coverage begins at 6:45 PM with Tom Gauthier and Bob Lipman on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network and www.nhfishercats.com.
